Giving security to your laptop and the computer is mandatory. If your computer is infected by malware or virus, it can potentially harm your data and can leak your data to the seller. It can steal your ATM card number, ATM pin, Visa, or MasterCard’s CVV number. Always take extra precautions to give an additional layer of security to your computer.
Here are some steps by that you can give security to your computers.
Always Use an Antivirus
Don’t forget to use an antivirus. Antivirus is essential for the windows-based operating system. Windows 10 comes with an inbuilt Windows Defender. But my personal opinion is: Don’t rely on Microsoft’s Windows Defender alone. Windows defender got the following features:
- Virus protection and removal
- Malware protection and removal
- Spyware detection and removal
- Boot-time protection
- Real-time protection
- Cloud-based protection
- Network inspection
- FREE automatic updates
You can also use Anvi Smart Defender, which is lightweight with extreme capacity with regular updates.
If you use Windows 10, you can have protection without installing any 3rd party antivirus software. But If you use other versions of Windows like Windows 7 or Windows 8, you must need antivirus software. Personally, I like Eset Smart Security. Eset got there different from protection software; Eset antivirus, Eset Internet Security, and Eset Smart Security. Behind choosing ESET, the main fact is Eset consumes less ram, and your computer runs smoothly. Its detection is good too. Before selecting the Antivirus, please take a look at how much RAM you got and what is the bit version of your windows. To check the bit version right-click My Computer and Go to Properties. You will get the bit version of Windows. Usually, 64bit is the standard bit version nowadays. But it can be 32bit windows too.
Never Browse Untrusted Site/ Reported Malicious Site
You need to use some kind of browsers like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. In Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, they got the built-in function to avoid reported malicious or potentially harmful sites. You can enter the site bypassing that, but I think that will not be an excellent idea. Typically Google and different search engine providers, different antivirus companies mark malicious or harmful websites by blocking them.
Update Browser – Antivirus – Extention – Addon
Don’t forget to update the browsers, antivirus, browser extensions, browser add-ons. Old ones may get security vulnerabilities and got secured in their updated version. Always update the version of other software too. For other software, there is some essential tool which can check the current version of your installed software on your computer and check the latest version of the corresponding software with the newer ones. I use
for the software update. It is handy.
Use SpyHunter for Cleaning Browser Hijacking
SpyHunter is a free removal tool for:
- Adware (ads software)
- PUP/LPI (Potentially Undesirable Program)
- Toolbars
- Hijacker (Hijack of the browser’s homepage)
It comes with both “Scan” and “Clean” mode. It can be easily uninstalled using the “Uninstall” button.
Compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 in 32 & 64 bits.
Don’t Install Unnecessary Programs
Don’t install unnecessary programs. Like if you need to run the video format like .mkv, you need to install video software. But do not install more than one video player. It is unnecessary, and some video players can secretly steal data. KMP is one of the favorite movie players, and I used it earlier. But now it installs Pandora TV as its advertising partner. And some antivirus and the anti-malware software detect Pandora TV as malware. So I move to a new video player. Potplayer is excellent, and you will find all the functionality. It is lightweight, and most importantly, it is 100% free. It can be seen open on its official website. I am giving the bot bit version of the Pot Player Offline Download link.
Update Your Windows for Critical Security Updates
Updating windows is necessary to get the latest security patch for the security hole of the windows. Windows 10 comes with free updates. But if you use a pirated version of Windows 7 or Windows 8, Sometimes updates can check the validation of windows activation and can result in windows activation failure. For that, always try to use the genuine copy of windows. If you fail to get the actual copy solution is below:
- Try the trial version of windows of 30 days.
- Update the windows in a trial period.
- Activate the Windows. (Generally, I use KMspico. Don’t forget to use the latest version of kmspico. You can easily find the KMSpico in torrents.)
Avoid 3rd Party Software Install or Promotion or Offer
Many software we use is free. To make a revenue of that free software, they try to contact the 3rd party, and they force to install some other programs along with that free software. Suppose Utorrent comes with some promotion. Do not install those 3rd party software. CCleaner comes with a Google Chrome install. Better you avoid those. Keep keen eyes on installing. Yes, I am talking about the checkbox. To keep the checkbox clean, I use Unchecky. It is convenient. It automatically unchecks unrelated offers, both saving you mouse clicks and making it less likely to miss a checkbox of an unwanted offer.

Use Password during Windows Login
Sometimes a simple windows password can make a huge difference. Using a password during login can make your computer secured. Nowadays Biometric fingerprint sensor is added. I use HP Probook to scan my fingerprint to log in. It is quite enjoyable. Try to use at least one symbol and one Capital Letter in your password. Login password can easily be bypassed with some techniques. So better, you don’t rely solely on your login password.
More Use Secure – HTTPS protocol during Browsing
HTTPS is a new secured parameter for web guys. If you use HTTPS, that means the website you are entering is using SSL. SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a server and a client—typically a web server (website) and a browser. It will secure your given password and information. Do not provide any kind of Credit card number or PIN if you don’t see the green SSL certificate on the transaction site. As it ensures end-to-end encryption, 3rd party like network providers cannot fetch any data when you browse the HTTPS site.

Give a Regular check of whether Everything is Running or Not.
You are giving a regular test on your computer that every security measure we discussed above is present or not. Sometimes hacking or a Firewall breach of a network can disable the preliminary security measure you took. So don’t forget to check the firewall status, antivirus status, windows updates log, etc. Giving a regular checkup can make you sure that your laptop or computer (PC) is completely secured.
